BAYERN READY FOR BORISOV
Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes is expecting a tough game against BATE Borisov in their away game on Tuesday but will be looking forward to extend their perfect record in the midweek. .
Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge urged Bayern to focused on today's game when they take on the Belarusian side at the Dynamo Stadium. He said they should not take the opponents lightly as they won their domestic league last year, and should aim to win. A win would take them to the top of the group, and that is exactly what they wanted.
Rummenigge stated that it will be a dream start if they make it ten out of ten wins in all competitions, and would be a new club record. Borisov beat Lille 3-1 in an away game in the opening match of Europe’s elite club competition and is lead by former Stuttgart, Arsenal and Barcelona star Alexander Hleb, and on a 16 games unbeaten run.
“We simply mustn't underestimate our opponents, but our aim is to win. That would put us top of the table, and that is where we want to be at the end of the group stage. That would be a terrific story," Rummenigge said.
The club official conceded that BATE will be very confident ahead of the clash, as they beat the French side convincingly. Die Bayern will not have Netherlands international Arjen Robben for the away trip to Belarus due to a thigh injury problem, and Heynckes claimed that the home side is very disciplined and have quality players in their squad.
“They'll be very motivated especially after winning in Lille," he mused.
“They're very well organised, they have excellent players, and the victory in Lille was emphatic," he finally concluded.
